About paz home
Based in Mexico City and New York City, paz home is a home goods and design company. In Spanish, ‘paz’ translates to ‘peace’. We aim to create objects and design spaces that allow people to live peacefully, wherever they are. We want people to ultimately feel more connected to themselves and each other.
We partner with some of the best artisans and designers in Mexico to bring you high quality, ethically made, and meaningful objects. paz home’s vision is community focused, imagining places and partnerships where everyone benefits.
The first objects paz is creating are candles, which hold deep meaning and symbolism across many cultures and traditions. Candles are both utilitarian and decorative, used as light sources, as elements of religious rituals, and as joyful accessories to celebrations. We believe candles allow each of us to explore what living peacefully means: whether you save them for special occasions or use them everyday.
paz can be found in specialty food stores, galleries, and design shops across the US. We have been in New York City’s iconic ABC Carpet & Home; the LA based apparel and design concept Clare V. and their online stores; Silver Lake LA’s, Lake Boutique; Hollywood’s Sightglass Marketplace & Roastery; and in towns and cities like San Antonio, Napa Valley, Marin, and others. We have participated in New York City interior designer Brad Ford's design fair in New York’s Hudson Valley called Field + Supply. In 2023, you will also be able to find paz in London.
In the fall of 2022, we are excited to share a new project that we’ve been working on called PAZ COLLECTIVE - a project that aims to bring Mexico-US social issues to the forefront of conversation through the arts and community care.
About the Creative Director
Kristine Michelsen Correa created paz home out of a desire to live every day more consciously. Kristine encourages her clients and customers to explore what it means to live peacefully at home, wherever they may be. paz home originates in a personal exploration of objects that hold history and memories, and questions how they can evoke feelings and generate deeper meanings beyond their design.
Kristine lives and works in Mexico City and New York City. She has spent most of her career working with companies and organizations interested in creating social impact through innovative approaches to education. She spent her foundational school years in New York and Denmark in non-traditional educational environments that heavily incorporated the arts and encouraged students to participate in a democratic learning environment. She hopes to combine her passion for education and the arts in paz home and paz collective.
